What to expect
The Zoo is home to more than 2,100 mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles representing more than 270 different species, of which more than 58 are endangered. In addition, the Zoo’s botanical collection comprises several planted gardens and over 800 different plant species with approximately 7,000 individual plants. Occupying 113 acres within the largest municipal park in the U.S., the Zoo features naturalistic habitats and enriching educational opportunities in a lush, beautiful setting.
Things to look out for
SAFARI SHUTTLE
While you’re at the Zoo, hop aboard the Safari Shuttle for a quick trip from one end of the park to the other. All day long, seven days a week (from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), the Safari Shuttle picks up passengers, circles the Zoo, and returns to the main flamingo exhibit near the front entrance. You can get on and off the tram as often as you like at six different stops. The last trip departs at 3:30 p.m.

With five restaurants and three snack stands, there is something for everyone, with a commitment to using local, sustainable ingredients and offering healthy options.
INTERNATIONAL MARKETPLACE
This main shopping destination at the L.A. Zoo features a range of international favorites and traditional must-haves. Browse our large collection of gift items, apparel, hats, books, music, plush animals, and much more.
