What to expect
One of the smallest wine estates near Stellenbosch, Lovane Boutique Wine Estate is a unique gem in the Winelands. Enjoy a tour of their underground wine-tasting area and barrel cellar for an experience like no other.
Things to look out for
The wine estate’s name, Lovane, originates from the Xhosa word U’Lovane which means Chameleon. In the old days, it was said that many chameleons could be seen on the farm.
Helpful Tips
Visit the unique underground cellar and wine-tasting facility for a taste of small-scale winemaking, and the farm’s unique wines. For the full Lovane experience, book a night or two at the Lovane guest house.
There are 16 rooms available to rent, and each room is kitted out with Lovane’s own range of locally produced bathroom toiletries. Wake up to the glorious sunrise and enjoy breakfast outside on the wooden deck on warm mornings or in the restaurant area next to the wood-burning fireplace in winter.
There are a few different accommodation options to suit any occasion. On the way home pop into the cheetah outreach at Spier and visit the big cats as well as the eagle encounters experience. There is also the Cape Town Lion Park with several different lions and species of game at Vredenheim.
